DESCRIPTION:Join Fontenelle Forest for their new program learning what happens in the forest as the seasons change – Little Learners: Seasonal Science! You’ll discuss what animals do as the seasons change\, and explore science stations focused on winter\, spring\, or fall. Plus\, you’ll go on a hike looking for snowflakes\, spring shoots\, or falling leaves\, and make your own seasonal craft to take home! \n\n\nThis program is geared for young children ages 7 and under. One caregiver is admitted free with their child’s registration; additional adults pay daily admission upon arrival. Caregivers are required to stay for the program. Hike will be weather-dependent\, but please ensure your little learner is dressed appropriately! \n\n\n\nThis program is $10 for Members and $25 for Non-members. \n\n\nPre-registration is required. Included with admission to each location. \n  \nAbout MSEF: \nFounded in 1980\, the Metropolitan Science and Engineering Fair (MSEF) is open to all Douglas\, Sarpy and Washington County students in grades 6-12. Each March\, MSEF provides students an opportunity to display their research projects and have their projects judged by area college instructors and practicing professionals in the project’s field.  MSEF is affiliated with the Nebraska Junior Academy of Sciences. MSEF is organized by the Metropolitan Science and Engineering Fair\, Inc.\, a non-profit organization made up of educators\, business people\, engineers\, and scientists. Further information about MSEF is at msefomaha.com.

SUMMARY:Wetlands Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:Grab your binoculars and join Fontenelle Forest for a Naturalist guided hike through the Wetlands in search of Pileated Woodpeckers and migratory birds making their way through the Forest in the early spring! Waterfowl move through the Forest early in the year\, and other small songbirds start to appear as plants start to grow and bloom. Woodpeckers also start nesting\, making loud calls and displays. \nThe program will be from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM\, traversing through easy to moderate terrain.  Be prepared with layers\, bug spray\, good walking footwear\, and a water bottle. Bringing binoculars is encouraged; extra binoculars will be available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Please note there are no facilities at the Wetlands\, so plan accordingly. \nThis program is $10 for members and $25 for non-members (price includes daily admission). Pre-registration is required.  Members must sign in to receive discount.

DESCRIPTION:Come visit the Missouri River Wastewater Treatment Plant for a tour with Conservation Nebraska on April 17th from 6-8pm! The tour will provide an overview of the plant and highlight water conservation efforts. \nThere are no age requirements\, but adults should accompany small children. People attending the tour are required to wear closed-toed shoes. Since the majority of the tour requires walking outdoors\, please dress for all weather conditions. \nViewing most of the treatment process requires walking up stairs\, some of which are difficult for those afraid of heights. \nPlease refer to the map in the comments section for parking instructions: If the front gate is closed upon arrival\, please press the button on the call box (green circle on map) and staff will open the gate (red line). Then park in any available spot in the upper parking lot (orange rectangle). Enter through the double doors of the front office and let the secretary on duty know you are here for a tour. \nRegistration required.
